I saw a bird in a golden cage
With bars of silver, scented in sage
Gems all over, adorned like a crown
But the bird inside still held a frown
Surrounding the cage a garden like Eden
With flowered vines portraying a maiden
With scent so sweet like a forbidden spell
But his eyes held a thirst that beauty couldn't quell
All alone In his golden cage
With bars of silver , scented in sage
but his eyes longed with another desire
to the touch the azure , he so admired
Everyday behind his silver bars
He admired the moon and desired the stars
He desired not Eden nor celestial things
Just the sky to spread his wings.
